Travel Tips

Small Amount of Cash

Carry small amounts of cash from where you are travelling for emergencies, paying for small things, and tipping. Taking some USD is a good idea too, as it is widely accepted in many countries.

Take Travel Insurance

Always make sure to take out travel insurance. You don't know when something might happen. Each country has its own health care system, and you may face a hefty bill if you don't have insurance.

Don't Let Language Stop You

Don't let a language barrier stop you from visiting a country. Many countries speak English as a second language, you can use a translator app or even hire a translator. So, go and have fun.

Book Tours

Booking tours is a great way to get around safely and meet new people. You can book them through a travel agency, a website, or at your hotel. The hotel can even tell you where you can book some tours if they don't do it. There are plenty out there, so take advantage of them.

Take a Carry-on

Make sure to take a carry-on with you in case the airline loses your luggage. Pack the essentials in it, like a toothbrush, toothpaste, a change of clothes, a swimsuit, soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Hotels tend to provide shampoo, conditioner, and soap for their guests, but if you aren't staying at one, you might want these. Some hotels give out toothbrushes and toothpaste if you forget, but don't rely on this.

Credit and Debit Cards

Take a few different cards with you in case one doesn't work. Visa is widely accepted throughout the world. Also, make sure to inform your bank(s) of your travel plans. They may get blocked if the bank(s) see a charge from a different country.

Take Photos

Take lots of photos to document your trip. Make sure to get some with you in them. You will appreciate having the photos to look at and share with friends and family. Whether they are taken with your phone or with a camera.

Travel Locally

If you can't afford a big trip right now, visit your city, province, or country. This will allow you to save up for one in the future. It will also allow you to learn more about your city, province, state, territory, and country.
